For the past 27 years, I have had the humble privilege of fulfilling my passion and living my best life - teaching and inspiring young minds. Throughout my career, I have been the teacher as well as the learner. Who knew that four, five, and six-year-olds could teach you so much? My students are strong, motivated, full of passion, fun, and a bit fiesty. They love learning, exploring, making friends, and having fun in the process. If there was one thing that I would change about my students, it would be absolutely nothing.
These students with their love for school and passion for learning, encourage me to teach engaging and relevant lessons that spark their interest and foster a learning environment.
It's amazing to watch their growth from the beginning of the school year, unable to write their names; to the end of the year writing a short paragraph to tell a narrative story. Their excitement and enthusiasm as we create, learn, struggle, and succeed makes my teaching more meaningful and drives me to do more
This professional opportunity will enable me to develop the knowledge and skills I need to address my students' learning challenges. Many of my students come to school with a variety of learning needs and challenges.
Having many resources and strategies in my teaching toolkit can help me.
Students learn best and reach rigorous goals when they have a teacher that is knowledgeable in instruction and best practices. Attending the I Teach K Conference will afford me just that.
I will have an opportunity to network with other educators and share best practices. Ongoing professional development keeps me up-to-date on new research on how children learn, emerging technology tools for the classroom, new curriculum resources, and more. My students will benefit from having a teacher standing in front of them that feisty had the opportunity to attend professional development that is ongoing, collaborative, and connected to and derived from working with students and understanding their culture and best practices.
