My Students

My students are of various ethnicities and are fifth graders. I will be teaching in a remote learning environment and will need supplies to help support my teaching practices. I have a diverse group of students with some students skilled at completing grade level concepts and others that are struggling even though we just started August 3, 2020. As their teacher, I am scrambling for supplies for learning activities and resources to use to share with students for tutoring and demonstration of course assignments in our virtual meetings. I was just hired and have not received a paycheck so gathering the needed materials is a real struggle so that I can be an effective and outstanding teacher my numerous students' needs. Currently, I have about 75 students so I have a large group to work with until I break down students into smaller groups for more intense instruction on a personalized or individualized basis. I need to be able to use the whiteboard to demonstrate reading comprehension strategies, math problem solving solutions, history graphs and websites, annotating science experiments and demonstrating a variety of test-taking skills for quizzes, tests and standardized tests.

My Project

These items will help me implement the training I received about using literature, math manipulatives, web tools, apps and whiteboard exercises to implement curriculum that fosters a love for reading, makes learning fun for my students and enables students to be successful. I know my students need to see, hear, and experience the curriculum and I must assure parents and reinforce with the students that they are an integral part of the learning process. Through my master’s degree program, I learned several learning theories and best practices for teaching elementary students that I want to implement with my students. I attended several virtual presentations over the summer and have acquired new skills to effectively implement the course curriculum in a virtual learning environment and am in need of the project supplies. I plan to have my students work on novel studies, math units, science projects, and history adventure quests. I am requesting the supplies and resources so I can visually demonstrate instructions, methods and concepts for my students with the markers, whiteboard, manipulatives and resources requested to supply my Remote Learning Project Activity Center.
