Little Learners Listening to Stories

My students need the mobile listening and storage center so they can be exposed to more of their favorite picture and storybooks everyday!

My Students

My students! I have a very enthusiastic group of 5 and 6-year-olds that come from a variety of backgrounds! Our school is very diverse, with a very high poverty/ELL population. I have a few students who attended preschool, and many who never had the opportunity.

My students love listening to stories in our classroom!

We squeeze in as many stories as we can each day, and the students are still begging me to read more as we walk out the door! I am hopeful that this project will allow me the opportunity to give my students more chances to hear stories throughout the day!

My Project

I am excited to have another way to provide my little learners the opportunity to hear their favorite stories over and over! My students already have a love of reading that I want to continue to nurture by giving them as many chances to listen to great literature as I can!

I believe that by having a mobile listening center in my classroom, students will have yet another way during our day to listen to books on cd's, explore new vocabulary in the context of stories, and enjoy looking at pictures as they listen to the story and follow along in their own books!

I can actually see the learning in their eyes when they are engaged in a story! I am so glad that my students are developing a love of reading at such an early age!

By donating to this project, you will be helping to enrich their lives with literature! Our school has a very high population of English Language Learners, and every extra opportunity for them to hear English being spoken helps to develop their own English more! The listening center, CD players, headphones, and stories will allow them to independently enjoy stories more often in our classroom!
