Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and resilient. They are eager to learn English. They come to school each day ready to be challenged in order to grow both personally and academically. They are truly inspiring!

Each student embraces the challenges of learning English.

They are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. I work with elementary English language learners in a rural area. Many of my students are newcomers who speak very little English.

Books are so important to my students and are truly valued. Providing culturally relevant, quality literature is crucial to accessing their prior knowledge. We want to instill a love of reading and lifelong literacy for all our students

My Project

Help my students see themselves in the books they read. Children need culturally relevant literature to motivate and engage them in English language learning and literacy.

My students need books with characters from their culture to spark their interest in reading.

Many of the children are just beginning to learn English. These bilingual books will spark their curiosity and ignite a love of reading.

Quality literature that reflects their culture will inspire their creativity. They are eager to learn and be successful in school. Becoming good readers will open a world of possibilities for them.
