Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a poor section of town. They are hard workers. I teach architecture and what I teach them is something they have not experienced in middle school.

Many of my students will be able to use the knowledge I teach to go on to college or to obtain a job as a draftsman after high school.

Many of my students currently work in construction as a job after school and others have parents that are in the construction industry.

My Project

My class allows students to gain real world experience in the field of architecture. Two of the main computer programs that are used in the field of architecture today are AutoCAD and Revit. I teach these skills in my class. These programs help students gain a skill that they can use in college or directly in the real world as a draftsman. However, the work that they do is limited to their computer screens.

A color printer would allow my students to share their projects with the class.

This gives the students a chance to critique the work of their peers an important skill in both the academic and business world. Students need to learn how to present and explain their work to the public. This will also prepare them for college as well as equip the students with confidence when they present to clients.
