My Students

I work hard every day for my students. I want them to know they are valued and cared for. Many of my students do not have opportunities to travel outside of our community. They may have never visited a museum or been to a national park. A high percentage come from low-income households and many have faced trauma at some point in their young lives. As we teach every day in our school, my colleagues and I strive to encourage our students every day and give them the tools they need to be successful.

I am striving to keep my students fully engaged while we are working and learning from our homes.

Even at a distance, I know my students are developing the skills and habits that will allow them to be successful as they enter High School. Students that I work with need and deserve an extra dose of care and attention and we foster a strong, supportive atmosphere. We use a trauma-informed approach to help all students develop their social, emotional, and academic skills. We also want to encourage 21st Century skills around the Four C's: Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Communication.

My Project

You and I know that students learn best when they are engaged. I want students to feel a sense of belonging or connection with both me and their peers. Pear Deck makes my lesson interactive and I can comment and give feedback to students in real-time. This makes it extra easy for me to connect with every single student in class every day.

Pear Deck helps my amazing students be fully engaged, be seen, and have a voice in their learning.

This is a great tool not only in my physical classroom but especially while our homes have become the classroom.
