Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach students in an urban community. Our school population includes 90% second language learners. One hundred percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Students from different grade levels come to my classroom for intervention lessons to meet their needs. These students arrive ready to learn every day. The curriculum we provide our students' needs to support and encourage their language development, so they can be successful and proud of their progress.
I want them to make connections so they feel responsible for their own learning and excited about individual accomplishments.
My goal is to provide engaging lessons where all students can contribute to class discussions, improve their skills and share their problem-solving strategies.
My Project
iPads provide many educational apps that lead to programs that will ignite an authentic enthusiasm for learning through technology. This iPad will provide a differentiated approach to reading fluency and literacy mastery. Our dream is the possibility of reaching our reading goal this year and being on grade level before we move on to the next school year.
School may be the only place some of my students can have the opportunity to engage in activities that involve the most up-to-date technology.
This technology will bring a spark for learning to our classroom and allow my students to access rigorous educational games and activities using Nearpod, locate leveled reading books, practice phonics on Square Panda, Freckle Education, Imagine Learning, iReady and OSMO playsets and research curriculum areas. We plan on inviting our parents to visit our classroom after school once a week to share what we have learned using our new iPad. We can only imagine all the new learning that will take place in our classroom with our new iPad! This will allow us to engage our families in our educational learning successes. Please help my students increase their science, mathematics, reading and literacy experience.
