This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, hard workers, and curious about learning how to cook. Most of my students are from low-income households, and their knowledge about food is restricted. They are excited about developing cooking skills, learning about healthy eating and engaging in hands-on activities in the kitchen. Also, in my class, they have a chance to learn basic culinary skills that prepare them for the culinary field

They come to school each day moved by what will be the next recipe to be made.

Every day I hear from them: Chef Gabi, what are we cooking today? My students motivative me to improve myself as a Culinary teacher, and I would love to help them to have this real-world experience.

My Project

Our culinary Kitchen was not built to be a classroom, actually, it was the old cafeteria transformed into one. There are a few things that need to be done to make the environment safer and functional to teach my classes. I have 30 students per class and if I can manage to have those students working on their stations without moving around in our small space we will have a more productive and safe environment.

Please, help me to have trash cans placed at the end of each prep station.
