This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is an elementary school located in an inner-city. We currently serve over 620 energetic students in grades Pre-K-5th. Over 98% of our students qualify for free lunch. Because of this free lunch status, many students’ only access to quality meals is through the breakfast and lunch program. Our school is located in a high poverty area with over 80.5% of the residents living below the poverty line and receiving state services. Students view our school as a safe haven and many stay after school to participate in the various extracurricular activities. Many of their families have been disenfranchised from school for multiple generations.

My Project

My students are developing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) based entrepreneurial project where they will design and create products for sale during our STEAM Expo. They have been following the engineering design process to create prototypes and designs to showcase during the expo. We will use the Cricut Machine to design gift sets for teachers, parents staff and students.

We have the ideas but no way to bring them to reality.

The Cricut Machine will allow the students to bring their creative Art projects to life. Help us develop the Artistic talents in the students as we enhance the A in STEAM. Imagine the look on their faces when the students see the designs they have created on the products that they have designed.
