Help me give my students technology resources and visual aids to help them have equal access to programs and activities as their typically developing peers.
Our students come from very diverse backgrounds. Blue collar, white collar... farmers and CEOs... our community hosts a wide range of experiences and incomes. Located in a township without a post office, our school struggles to make ends meet at times. We aren't Title I, but could be. We have a very strong community presence in our school, which helps, but constant budget cuts mean less money.
Specifically, the students that would benefit from these tools that have social emotional difficulties.
They need the opportunity to build their skills to be successful across all academic areas.
My Project
Our school is growing in technology resources, which is great! However, my classroom is a resource room for special need students and often supplies are not replenished due to funding issues.
My students do not often have their own personal headphones, so I lend mine out to them so they can access technology in their regular rooms and in my resource room, as their peers are able to.
Unfortunately, headphones get lost and broken. Our classroom has a laptop and projector but no speaker, so the volume is often difficult to hear. This is frustrating at times to the students and loses their interest when we are completing an activity on the projector.
Lastly, I'm asking for visual flashcards to help with several of my students with Autism to help them manage behavioral struggles and schedule changes throughout the day. Your help is very appreciated and these items will be put to great use on a daily basis.
