Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The scholars that faithfully attend our school are an opinionated, curious, and very cool bunch. They are wacky and excited about their learning and rarely allow their "coolness" to prevent them from expressing it. For instance, my proud athletes are also the ones who get excited when they finally break down a math concept or complete a project.
Although you may not see it from the outside, my kids have also demonstrated much resilience.
Our school is a Title I school where 92% of our students come from low-income backgrounds. Many are from families who have immigrated to our country. They are a strong bunch!
My Project
In a sentence: Our current school speaker that has been shared all around the school is finally dying. But let me provide you more context: we have kids at our school from TK-8th grade. During their 3rd-6th grade years, they are able to participate in musicals which requires a good sound system for them to practice and then to perform. From 6th-8th grade, we have dances and events, and for everyone to access the sound, we need a suitable sound system.
Rather than waiting to see when old equipment will be replaced, I would love to just get our own "student events" speaker.
This way, we can keep track of the speaker's whereabouts and make sure it is always ready for use for dances, performances, speeches and more.
