I teach STEM Lab (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) to K-5 students in a Title I Georgia Public School.
As a STEM teacher, I love integrating technology and science into the curriculum.
We love to use various apps and technology tools to enhance our learning.
Creativity is another big part of our classroom. Art is often forgotten in education, but can be a big part across curriculum! Through the use of creative projects, I can help our students achieve great things.
My Project
Computer Science can be a difficult subject to understand, especially for younger children. While computer science helped create many objects, including traffic lights and washing machines, young children do not grasp the abstract subject.
Tools such as Osmo, which utilize the iPad's camera to turn real world objects into virtual tools help young children begin to see the world of computer science.
Osmo allows children to manipulate tangible tiles in order to program virtual objects on the iPad's screen. These tools consist of items such as tangrams, pizza play food, and hot wheels cars.
Through this technology, young children can be exposed to higher levels of thinking and advanced skills that will serve them throughout their life!
