If you were to walk into my classroom you would see students working in different groups on many different science labs. My classes range from 27-30 students per period. My students are captivated by STEAM lessons and show their best work when we do STEAM lessons and labs.
I teach 125 8th grade students that are 13-14 years old.
My students enjoy the opportunities to build, create, and collaborate with their classmates. They are a very lively group that benefits from hands-on and moving activities. My school is located on an island where most students bike and walk to school. We are a k-8 school with about 1,000 students. Many of my students have been at our school since kindergarten.
My Project
Students will work in pairs to code SPERO robots that will act as Mars Rovers. That is just one example of how I will use the SPERO robots in my classroom.
My school is a STEAM school that wants students to have the opportunity to take part in project based learning that helps to build their 21st-century skills.
Through the SPEROs I will be able to tie in math, technology, science, and art. In the next 10 years, the jobs that will be available have not even been created, but students will need the skills provided with the SPERO to become career and college ready.
