I need to be EMPOWERed through professional development from some of the best educators in the country to inspire, motivate, engage, and instruct my English Learners to achieve their goals and dreams!
I teach 11-14 year olds who have lived through experiences unimaginable to many. My students have persevered through one of the hardest journeys a child can go through. Many made the trip alone for the chance at being reconnected with family, escaping violence, & living the American dream. I teach the English learners at my middle school.
My students are recent immigrants to the country who are excited to learn English and work for a better life.
They are driven, young individuals who have big dreams & all the potential they need to accomplish those goals & dreams. However, many of my students have also experienced trauma, limited formal education, and/or a lack of needed resources. Sometimes, these hardships become obstacles in the minds & achievement of my students, but they shouldn't. My school is like my second home and my students are like my kids. They deserve the best education and an engaging teacher who pushes through all the perceived "obstacles" to provide each student the best possible opportunity for that education.
My students work hard for the future they see in their dreams. I hope you will partner with us to make their big dreams come true!
My Project
Our school emphasizes the importance of knowing our students well and engaging them in a meaningful education. We encourage our students to dream big and work hard to reach those goals. We also encourage teachers to take charge of their professional learning and to seek out ways to be the best teachers they can be.

The EMPOWER Education conference is a revolutionary new conference in which there will be 6 powerful keynote speakers including Ron Clark, Jimmy Casas, Hamish Brewer, Kayla Delzer, Todd Nesloney, Joe Dombrowski, and host Misty Malone. The purpose of the conference is to "inspire, motivate and overload teachers with ready to implement tools and resources! These days are meant to recognize and EMPOWER educators in appreciation of who they are and what they do every day, with words and praises from the best of the best!" Plus, 100% of the proceeds of the conference go back to classrooms.
I would be overjoyed to participate in and attend this conference to learn from some of the best educators in the country. I have learned so much about how to be an engaging teacher from these presenters via my Twitter professional learning network and I can't even imagine the amazing ways their words can impact my instruction to come.
