Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It's safe to say that, in my classroom, there is never a dull moment. My students come from all around San Antonio and bring to the table multiple perspectives and diverse experiences. Some come from poverty and gangs into my classroom seeking shared experiences and opportunities to learn and explore through literature and reading about current events.
Above all else, my students are passionate about their interests and their community and heritage.
They are quick to speak up about social issues and stand up for what they believe is right.
My Project
As our world is quickly advancing and technology is becoming engrained in our learning environments, students without access to technology in the classroom are falling behind. In our classroom, the only access students have to technology is their own personal cellphones, which often don't have service or become a distraction very quickly.
With these tablets, students would have access to the internet and applications to help them with research projects and grammar practice on NoRedInk and Quill.
Students would also be able to work on their Google Classroom assignments for my class or read books online with the Kindle App.
In an underserved community, my students deserve access to technology and consistent and updated news sources. With these tablets, we will be one step closer to closing the achievement gap in low income school.
